8 a. Adheres to board policies, district procedures & contractual obligations.
Procedural Safeguards Manual for Parents (Parent Rights in Special Education) One of my duties at every IEP meeting is to remind parents that they have rights. I do this by verbally telling them with a bit of an explanation and by giving them this manual. Timeline for IEPs There are certain timelines that I need to follow in the IEP process. This is important to do in order to be following the letter of the law.
8 b. Demonstrates professional & ethical conduct according to state law and local policy.
Email from Wartburg College Mandie Sanderman emailed me requesting partnering with the Wartburg Social Work Department students at Wartburg College. Tammy Fuax, Kathy Book, and I wrote the original grant to launch this program many years ago. I am happy to see that it continues to this day. Thank You Card I welcomed a Wartburg field experience student into my classroom; in this case, she worked with a student with Cerebral Palsy most of the time. I have had many students over the years (Nathan Johnston being one of them!). It is a great learning experience for both the field experience student and me!
8 c. Contributes to efforts to achieve district & building goals.
Email from Kristie Kuhse I have served on the Wellness Committee since its inception. I feel strongly that our students need to be viewed holistically; their well-being physical, emotionally, and spiritually has to be taken into consideration while they are in our educational system. I fully support Wellness Day.
8 d. Demonstrates respect for all learners and staff.
Email to Students On days I am not at work, I email students reminding them of my expectations behaviorally and academically. I always include the reminder to be respectful to the adult in the room.
8 e. Collaborates with a variety of groups to enhance student learning

Collaborating with Mrs. Kuhse Kristie and I collaborated on how to assist my roster students in getting their Totally Ten volunteer hours/points. I asked her if my roster students could help set up and clean up for the Hero Breakfast. It worked great; the students felt like an integral part of the Hero Breakfast while they earned hours/points for Totally Ten.
